CCT to Perform “The Glass Menagerie” October 10-13.

Crookston Community Theatre will perform The Glass Menagerie at the Polk County Museum in Crookston on October 10, 11, 12, and 13. The performances will be at 7:30 each night, and tickets are available online. Seating is limited, as the theatre is small, so it is a good idea to get online soon to ensure you have seats for this classic Tennessee Williams Play.

We were given a short summary of the play by Beth Carlson, who plays the mother (Amanda)  in the production. “It’s a very classic tale which only includes four people, The Mother (Amanda), The Daughter(Laura), who has a little bit of a disability, the Son(Tom), who is the narrator who then comes into the story, and a Gentleman Caller (Jim O’Connor).” The story is about Amanda trying to get her daughter, who is somewhat disabled and very, very shy, married.

Carlson says it’s very relatable because it’s a story about family.  “Even though it’s set pre-war, 30’s, the things they are dealing with are family things,” says Carlson. “You are going to find yourself going, oh, that mother is crazy, but I kind of feel her pain.”

Sandy Perkins, Production Coordinator for The Glass Menagerie, says there are still tickets available. The theatre at the Polk County Museum seats about 60 people, so don’t put off getting your seats reserved. When asked why they chose to do The Glass Menagerie at the Museum, Perkins said, “It was a space that we felt would be very appropriate for a small production like this.”

Don’t miss your chance to see a Tennessee Williams classic, The Glass Menagerie, directed by Joyce Johnson, at the Polk County Museum on October 10, 11, 12, and 13.
