CROOKSTON E.C.F.E HOLDS ANNUAL ‘CELEBRATE THE YOUNG CHILD’ EVENT

“Let’s PLAY Together” was the theme for the Celebrate the Young Child Family Festival on Tuesday evening at the Crookston High School.  Families with children ages birth to eight were invited to attend this free event and eat, browse the information booths, and play.

Miss Crookston’s Halle Winjum performed a song with her ukelele and spent time playing with the children.  Children were encouraged to create a caterpillar with their food and tasted kale from the U of M Extension as it is their One Vegetable, One Community choice this year. There were many stations available for children to explore and play – an obstacle course, a shape movement game, playdough, puzzles, legos, the parachute, and more!  A community event such as this brings people together and helps us appreciate what Crookston offers. Supporting our youngest families is crucial as their children grow and develop, and being connected to a community encourages strong, healthy families.

Many thanks go to the Celebrate the Young Child Collaborate for planning, organizing, and continuing to support young children in our community: Polk County Public Health, Crookston Public Schools ECFE, C.A.L.L. Committee, RiverView Health, Tri-Valley Head Start, and Crookston Public Library.  Also, a big thank you to the Crookston Early Childhood Initiative for providing the food for the event.  Thank you to those who took the time to have an information booth at the event, as it’s an excellent opportunity for families to see what amazing things we have available in our Crookston community to support families.
