The Crookston Eagles are holding a Cornhole Tournament on Saturday, February 26th at noon in the Crookston Eagles Club Dance Hall to raise money for Camp Confidence, a learning center in East Gull Lake that specializes in outdoor education and experiences for people with developmental and cognitive delays and disabilities. There will also be multiple 50/50 Raffles, Bingo at 3:30 p.m., and the Eagles Kitchen will be open to serve food and drinks during the events.
Tandra Landman, the Co-Chairmen for the Tournament, and fellow Chairmen Nicole Hanson are excited to hold this event for the Camp, as it’s a favorite organization the Eagles have donated to in the past to help fund and improve the camp.
“It’s one that the Eagles really like to donate to. At our regional Eagles meeting, they were looking for fundraising ideas for Camp Confidence. That they’re looking for air conditioners and stuff for their cabins,” Co-Chairmen for the Cornhole Tournament, Tandra Landman explained, “And in Red Lake Falls, there’ve been some really great success with Cornhole Tournaments, such as at the Hoops for Hope event, as well as at SummerFest, so we decided to give it a try in Crookston,”
Landman hopes that the Tournament will become an annual event in Crookston each year or become a regular event at other city events like during the Oxcart Days of Summerfest to help raise money for Camp Confidence.
Registration is $20 per team that can be paid on-site in the Dance Hall between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m. or Venmoed to either Tandra or Nicole. The top 2 winning teams will receive a share of the winnings, depending on the number of entries of the Tournament.
“We are hoping that teams will call or text and get pre-registered this week so that way we can have the brackets started. But we will also welcome same-day sign-ups,” Landman said.
Cornhole Boards were loaned to the Eagles by the Eagles Auxiliary as well as from The Spot in Red Lake Falls and by the Brumwell family from the Hoops For Hope Basketball Tournament.
