The Crookston Farmer’s Market will celebrate National Farmers’ Market Week at the Red Barn in the downtown square on Thursday, August 7, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Crookston just happens to have a great reason to celebrate, explains organizer Pat Grothe. “Crookston was selected as one of nine Farmers Markets in the State of Minnesota to represent a particular region,” says Grothe. “We were selected to represent the North West Region. So we are inviting everyone to come on down, we are going to have a great big celebration.”
The Farmer’s Market will run as usual on Thursday, but with some extras. “We are having a short program where we are going to be inviting our sponsors to the market. We will also have the mayor there,” says organizer Pam Olson. “We will be serving a complimentary meal for all who come; sloppy joes, chips, cupcakes, and lemonade. We will also be having some drawing at 5:00, 5:30, and 6 where you can draw for vouchers and use at the market.”
The Crookston Farmers Market has something for everyone. “I think we have a nice variety of vendors. We sell a lot of products, not just vegetables,” says Grothe. “When you think of farmers’ markets, you think of a vegetable stand, but we’re so much more than that.”
The Crookston Farmers Market has soap, crafts, homemade handbags, goat milk products, and flower vendors, just to name a few.
Stop by the Crookston Farmer’s Mark on Thursday, August 7, to help celebrate the local market and enjoy a free dinner while shopping for local goods. The Crookston Farmers Market is open from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
