Crookston Finance Director Angel Weasner said Thursday she had submitted her resignation to become a city administrator, a role she held on an interim basis for the City of Crookston for most of 2020. “I have been offered and accepted a position as the city administrator for Park Rapids,” said Weasner. “I will be relocating approximately two hours away and be the city administrator.”
Weasner has been with the City of Crookston since 2012 and said she gained a lot of skills that have prepared her to be a city administrator. “I’ve been here for eight and a half years,” said Weasner. “I started in the summer of 2012 and in my time here have been the city clerk and the finance director. But I also got to be kind of an interim co-building official with Tim Froeber, with Brad Bail being the consultant and the licensed building official. I’ve learned about planning, zoning, and building permits. And the administrator, I’ve learned a lot about negotiations, citizens, and how to relate to everybody on a different level. I feel all those skills have geared me up and prepared me to be the city administrator down there.”
Weasner said her last day coincides with the airport master plan’s open house, a project she’s been involved with for the past two years. “My last day here is January 15,” said Weasner. “Actually, the 14th. I will be gone on the 15th. But, I will be here on the 14th because we are having the Airport Open House for the layout and master plan. I wanted to ensure I was here to finalize that.”
Weasner said she’s excited about the new challenge and will hope to maintain relationships in Crookston. “I thought I would give this a try,” said Weasner. “I think I will do very well, and I’m excited to meet that challenge down there. I will miss everybody here in Crookston. It has been an honor to work with everybody. And I look forward to hopefully maintaining some of the relationships I have built here.”
