Crookston Girls Golf competes in Day 1 of the Section 8A Tournament

The Crookston Pirate Girls Golf team finished in fourth place with a two-round total of 733 strokes at the Section 8A Golf tournament at Bemidji Town and Country Golf Course. The Pirates had a first round of 374 and shot a better 359 in the second round. Detroit Lakes won the tournament with a 611, 69 strokes better than runner-up Roseau.

FIRST ROUND-
Ava Martin, a senior, shot an 85 and is in 11th place. Ava carded seven pars, nine bogies, and two double bogies.
Halle Nicholas, a senior, shot a 92 and is tied for 22nd place. Hallen had five pars, eight bogies, three double bogies, and two triple bogies.
Emelia Hoerner, a senior, shot a 92 and is tied for 22nd place. Emelia recorded one birdie, two pars, 10 bogies, four double bogies, and one triple bogey.
Makenna Peterson, a freshman, shot a 105 and is in 38th place. Makenna carded two pars, three bogies, 10 double bogies, two triple bogies, and one quadruple bogey.
Elsie Mathews, an eighth grader, shot a 110 and is in 42nd place. Elsie had one par, six bogies, five double bogies, three triple bogies, two quadruple bogies, and one five over par hole.

SECOND ROUND –
Ava Martin, a senior, shot an 89 for a two-round total of 174 to finish in 15th place. Ava carded seven pars, nine bogies, and two double bogies to wrap up her Pirate career.
Halle Nicholas, a senior, shot an 84 for a two-round total of 176 to finish 18th place to wrap up her Pirate career. Halle had nine pars, seven bogies, one double bogey, and one triple bogey.
Emelia Hoerner, a senior, shot a 97 and finished in 26th place to wrap up her Pirate career. Emelia recorded five pars, seven bogies, three double bogies, one triple bogey, one quadruple bogey, and one five-over-par hole.
Elsie Mathews, an eighth grader, shot a 110 in the first round and shaved 21 strokes off her score in the second round to finish with an 89 for a two-round total of 199 to finish in 33rd place. Elsie had one par, six bogies, five double bogies, three triple bogies, two quadruple bogies, and one five-over-par hole.
Makenna Peterson, a freshman, shot a 100 for a two-round total of 205 and finished in 38th place. Makenna carded one par, eight bogies, seven double bogies, and two triple bogies.
