CROOKSTON GIRL’S GOLF SHOOT BEST ROUND OF YEAR AND FINISH 4TH AT FOSSTON INVITE

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Golf team shot their best score of the season with a 396 and finished fourth place out of nine teams at the Fosston Invitational being held at the Bemidji Town and Country Golf Course. The meet was won by Fergus Falls with a 351, 33 strokes better than Park Rapids.  “We finally broke the 400 mark today,” said Coach Jeff Perreault. “Everybody was happy with their rounds, which is good.”

All six of the Crookston golfers shot a 106 or better with Joslynn Leach leading the team with a 90, good for fifth place individually.  “I saw some really good things from her,” said Coach Perreault. “She was chipping the ball well and her short game is really coming together.”

Hannah Brouse had another solid round with a 98.  “I think she is finding her game,” said Coach Perreault. “She is swinging the club well and was putting well and had a great round today and she can still go lower.”

Sophia Rezac and Grace Fischer shot 104’s.  “Grace keeps working hard and is so close to turning in a round that is sub-100 and she keeps getting better,” said Coach Perreault. “Sophia had a decent round and had a few hiccups, but again we saw some good things from her today.”

Two seventh-graders, Ava Martin and Halle Nicholas shot 106’s. “I was really proud of them with a big meet and a good crowd and they handled it well and played with confidence,” said Coach Perreault. “They made some good shots and played with confidence beyond their years and that was good to see.”

Crookston will travel to East Grand Forks on Monday.
