The Section 8A Girls Hockey coaches conducted the seeding meeting Monday morning and almost everything went as planned except the three and four seeds. Warroad and Crookston were 1 and 2, East Grand Forks received the third seed after splitting with Thief River Falls during the season, but won the second meeting 3-1 on January 31. EGF also beat Crookston once while TRF lost both games to Crookston.
Crookston will play the winner of East Grand Forks and International Falls on Saturday, February 12 at East Grand Forks at 6:00 p.m. “I’m really excited that we got the second seed that these girls deserve,” said Pirate Coach Emily Meyer. “It gives us a first-round bye so we will get the winner of East Grand Forks and International Falls. Now we could possibly see East Grand Forks four times this season. I am excited the games are in East Grand Forks so it’s a close drive for our fans and we will come out flying. We will take one game at a time and in the playoffs, you never know what will happen!” The seeds and tournament schedule are below.
