CROOKSTON GIRL’S TENNIS BEAT TRF AT CHOICE FITNESS

The Crookston Pirate Girls Tennis team won all three doubles matches and two singles matches to beat the Thief River Falls Prowlers 5-2 in a dual played at Choice Fitness in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  

Crookston was short a player, but they showed off their depth with all three doubles teams getting wins.  First doubles of Abby Borowicz and Emma Osborn won a tight match by winning the first set 7-6 and 7-3 in the tie-breaker.  In the second set it was another close one, but Crookston won 6-4.  
Halle Bruggeman and Kaylie Clauson played a great match at second doubles and won in straight sets by a 6-2, 6-2 score.  
The third doubles team of Hannah Lindemoen and Morgan Nelson won the closest match of the day.  They won their first set 7-5 and then won the second set 7-6 and 7-5 in the tie-breaker to complete the sweep of the doubles matches. 

On the singles side, Halle Winjum continues to show she is a force at second singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory.  Brekken Tull was back at her usual spot at third singles and she came up with a nice 6-2, 6-2 victory.  The two Pirate losses were good, competitive matches.  At first singles, Hayden Winjum lost to a very good Brooklyn Broadwell 7-5, 6-2.  At fourth singles, Isabelle Smith played well but also ran into a solid opponent in a 6-1, 6-4 loss. 

Crookston improves to 14-2 in duals and will wrap up the regular season on Saturday when they host Park Rapids and Roseau in two big section 8A matchups.
