The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Tennis team is competing in the Park Rapids triangular and lost to a tough Pequot Lakes team 5-2 and bounced back to beat Park Rapids 6-1.
CROOKSTON VS PEQUOT LAKES
Crookston started the day with their most formidable opponent of the season as they suffered their first loss in a 5-2 decision with the Pequot Lakes Patriots.
Pequot Lakes won all three doubles matches, a rarity for Crookston.
The two Crookston wins came from Isabelle Smith in a hard-fought three-set match at second singles. Smith lost the first set 6-4 before winning the second set 6-3. The third set was a back-and-forth battle, with Smith winning 13-11 to pick up the win.
Addie Fee remained undefeated on the season with a straight-set victory at third singles. She won the first set 6-3 and continued her solid play in the second set with a 6-2 victory.

CROOKSTON VS PARK RAPIDS
Crookston bounced back after suffering their first loss of the season with a 6-1 victory over Park Rapids in a Section 8A matchup.
Crookston swept the doubles, with Emma Gunderson and Kaylie Clauson teaming up at first doubles and winning the match 6-0, 6-1.
The second doubles team of Addie Fee and Georgia Sanders cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 victory, and the third doubles team had a long and hard-fought battle to win a three-set match. Coral Brekken and Calleigh Fanfulik lost the first set 6-2 before bouncing back to win the second set 6-4. In the third set tie-breaker, Brekken and Fanfulik outlasted their opponents for a 10-7 win to complete the sweep of all three doubles matches.
Brekken Tull had an impressive win at first singles with a convincing 6-2, 6-2 victory.
Crookston suffered a three-set loss at second singles but won the third singles match as Paige Abrahamson made quick work of her opponent in a 6-1, 6-1 victory.
The sixth Pirate victory came at fourth singles, with Ashlyn Bailey picking up her first varsity victory with a 6-1, 6-4 decision to give the Pirates a 6-1 team win.
Crookston improves to 6-1 on the year, and they will travel to Moorhead on Thursday to play Moorhead and Staples-Motley.
