CROOKSTON GRAND THEATRE TO HOLD FREE FALL FAMILY MOVIE THIS SATURDAY

The Crookston Grand Theatre is holding a Free Fall Family Movie on Saturday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. for all families to come and see a free mystery family movie and enjoy all of their favorite movie concessions.

The Theatre hasn’t revealed what the movie is to keep it a surprise for the families interested in coming to see the film, but its manager, Bo Brorby, assured us that it’s a relatively new and fun movie for families that they have not shown. “It’s going to be a really fun movie, and I will say that was a movie we were supposed to show, but then the studio pulled it and never released it for us to show in theaters. It’s a family movie that’s still relatively new but has been released within the last two years,” Bo Brorby explained. “It was supposed to come out, but then it got pushed back about two or three times, and they may have put it out in theaters, but by the time we could’ve shown it, it was too far gone, so we couldn’t show it at our theater at least.” Brorby noted that it has been a few months since the theater has shown a family community moment. While there have been some thanks to sponsorships and events by local organizations like the Crookston Public Library and Ox Cart Days, it is now looking to make these free family movies a more regular occurrence between their regularly scheduled family movie showings. “Earlier in the summer, the Library and Club Kid sponsored a free movie, and we had a huge turnout for that, so we said, whenever there’s going to be a gap in time without a family movie, we’ll do random, free community movies to bring people out. All of our concessions are open, and hopefully, we get the theater packed,” Brorby explained. “People are going to love the movie we’re going to show.” With the movie, the theater will have its concessions available for families to purchase to fully enhance their movie experience. These concessions include fresh popcorn, ICEEs, candy, soda, and more.

With the new times and gaps between holidays and local events, the theater plans to make these free movies a more regular occurrence for the city, with some having themes and activities happening during them. “I think we’ll continue to do these random community events, and we’ll think of some more fun things to do. Like we do a free Halloween movie every year, where we do costume contests and show a family Halloween movie at 7:00 p.m., but then a real, scary one at 9:30,” Brorby explained. “But this year, I highly recommend that you come out to the one this year because we’re going to show some special movies for that one too.” Other free community movies include a free movie playing around Christmas time and at the beginning of the summer.

With the start of the school year and the lack of new movies for the time, the theater has changed its hours to show movies at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m. However, the free family movie will be shown at 1:00 p.m. before the theater returns to its regular showing times, where they will be showing the Rated R horror film, Smile, and the Rated R thriller, Don’t Worry Darling. However, with these new movie showing times, the theater has had more opportunities to allow for private and rental events in the theater for things like birthday parties to see certain movies or play video games on the big screen.

The Free Fall Family Movie event will be held in the Crookston Grand Theatre on Saturday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m. With other movies beginning at 4:00 and 7:00 p.m., with many new family movies and other movies coming in over the next couple of weeks. If you would like to plan a private event at the Grand Theatre, you can call them at 218-281-1820.
