CROOKSTON GUN CLUB TO HOLD OPEN HOUSE ON SUNDAY, MAY 2

The Crookston Gun Club will hold an open house on Sunday, May 2 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the public is invited to come out and see the club.

The club wants people to know they are open and they will be serving lunch at 4:30 p.m.  “Everyone is welcome to come out,” said Club Treasurer Cindy Gjerswald. “We have everything from trap shooting, pistol shooting, bow and arrow, and rifle.  We just want to let people know that the gun club is now open and we would like to have people come out and visit.”

It is an important year to renew your membership. “One thing that we are going to be doing this year, we are going to be changing the lock on the gate,” said Club President Steve Videen. “If you haven’t paid your membership, your key probably isn’t going to work.  If you come to the open house, we will swap keys with you once your membership is paid.  We would like the old keys back.”

The public is encouraged to attend the open house and bring their firearms. “We want everybody to bring out their firearm and we have some ammo we can sell if they don’t have any ammo.  We don’t have a lot of pistol or rifle ammo, but we do have shotgun shells that we sell out there,” said Gjerswald. “We want everybody to realize how nice of a facility we have in the Crookston area. We rent out our building graduation receptions, we have had different companies and have a fun night and shoot.  We have grills out there so you can grill out burgers, we have a kitchen area.  The facility is available for rent and the price is $75.”

The Crookston Gun Club is open Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to dusk.  They also host a trap shooting league. “We are going to get the league starting soon.  We need them to get a team of six people together,” said Videen. “The registration is $50 per team.  You can buy a punch card for an adult for $80 and that buys 13 rounds.  An individual round is $7.  The high school and college kids can get punch cards for $50.”

You can learn more about the Crookston Gun Club by contacting Steve Videen at 218-289-2115.  The open house is Sunday, May 2 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. with lunch served at 4:30 p.m.
