CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL COUNSELORS AND ALLUMA LOOKING FOR HYGIENE SUPPLIES FOR HIGH SCHOOL KIDS

Crookston High School Clinical Therapist and Alluma worker Jessica Shockman is reaching out to the Crookston Community for donations of hygiene supplies for children and students in need at the High School. “We have tended to run into a shortage of hygiene supplies, and I am looking to gather some items that we can keep here at school for kids in need that otherwise can’t provide them for themselves or get support in buying those items, so I am looking to collect a variety of things for both boys and girls,” she explained.

Shockman is modeling the donation event from similar donation programs done by fellow Mental Health Professional Tara Miller Rodriguez at Highland Elementary School. This is the first time an event like been done at the High School but which have been very successful with donations there. She is working with a small team at Alluma and the Crookston High School with fellow Counselors Casey Anderson, Erica Pruneda, and Tara Klein to set up a cabinet full of different supplies for kids at the high school for whoever needs it and whenever they need it, “Shampoo, conditioner, oral hygiene supplies, soap, body wash, deodorant, anything that would be helpful in helping the students out here at the high school when they need those items,” said Shockman. Other items that will be accepted are hairbrushes, combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other feminine products.

If you are able to make any donations either with any of the listed items or can donate any money to help them purchase any of the needed items, you can drop off your donations or a check made out to Alluma at the Crookston High School’s front office to be given to her and the other members, “I’ve asked that people drop those items off here at the High School. The ladies in the office have been very kind in taking those items and ensuring that we’ve got them back here in the counseling office as people have dropped them off. So that is the easiest way to get those to me. I’ve gotten a few donations so far, and I’m so grateful for our Crookston community members for stepping forward and meeting the needs of kids in our schools, so I’m so greatly appreciative of that,” said Shockman.

Jessica Shockman has posted the complete list on her Facebook page along with other information on how to donate money. If you are able to donate any of the items or money for the cause, you can drop them off at the front office of the Crookston High School. If you have any questions about what you can donate, you can call Jessica at the High School at (218) 281-2144 ext. 2210 or email her at jillcarlson@isd593.org.
