CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL GIVES SPIRITED SEND OFF TO TWO STATE BOUND PIRATE TRACK STARS EVEN THOUGH SCHOOL’S OUT

Even though school’s out for Crookston High School, that didn’t stop the faculty and some of the students there from giving a spirited send-off to Breanna Kressin and Cassie Solheim, two CHS Track stars that are heading to the Minnesota State High School League State Track and Field meet at Albertville High School in Saint Michael. Breanna Kressin is participating in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and 200m events, and Cassie Solheim is participating in the Long Jump event.

While the entire student body wasn’t there to wish them luck, the two track stars and their coaches completed a walk through the school where they were met with CHS Administration members, teachers, fellow spring sports teams, and students from the Special Education classes wishing them good luck and giving them high fives. “Anytime people come out and are able to recognize these girls for all the hard work they do, it warms my heart,” Girls Track Coach Amy Boll explained. “I see a few community members, Harley Stahlecker, the Crookston police, firefighters, and KROX and Crookston Times. Then in the school, we’ll do a little walk around before we leave, and the administration will cheer them on, so I’m really excited about that,” she added. After the walk-around, the two students and their coaches began their trip to Saint Michael with a convoy led by the Crookston Police Department and followed by a Crookston Firetruck that led them through downtown Crookston on their way out of town.

Girl’s Track Coach Amy Boll expressed her excitement for the girls and their accomplishments and feels very confident in their abilities to perform well at the State Meet, which begins on Thursday, June 9. “The first day, today, we’ll drive down there, and then we’ll have practice. Then the meet starts tomorrow, at 4:00 p.m., and then they’ll both begin competing right at 4:00 in their events, so we’re just going to get in there right away and start competing,” Boll said. “And then preliminaries will be on Thursday, and Finals will be on Friday,” she added. Stay tuned to KROX Radio, and KROXAM.com for more updates on the Minnesota State Track and Field meet results.
