Jana (Carlson) Hedlund, a Crookston High School graduate (1998) was a 2019 Minnesota Teacher of the Year candidate semi-finalist. Hedlund is a special education/autism teacher at North St. Paul High School and is the Hedlund daughter of Kathie (Carlson) Barnes of Crookston and John Carlson of Grand Forks.
The Minnesota Teacher of the Year award went to Jessica Davis, a high school math teacher in South St. Paul.
