CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL PARENT-TEACHER CONFERENCES AND HONOR ROLL ANNOUNCEMETS SOON ON THE WAY

Crookston High School Vice Principal Matt Torgerson will be on the KROX Focus on Education Saturday morning, reminding parents and students that the school’s Second Semester Parent-Teacher Conference is happening this upcoming Wednesday, February 23rd, and Thursday, February 24th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and he highly encourages parents to come to one of them. The school has also sent out emails to parents with the options of coming into the school physically or if they would prefer to set up a Zoom or Google Meet meeting into the Conference with certain teachers, giving them whichever option is easier for them to meet up with the teachers. He hopes that many parents will attend the Conference in some way as he believes this will be the best way to help get teachers and parents on the same page about the student’s academics or if they had any questions or concerns about the school.

Vice Principal Torgerson explained, “Our teachers reach out as much as they can, but our teachers at the high school, it’s a little bit of a different situation where they might see 150 students in a day. Trying to keep tabs on 150 students and trying to keep good communications open with that many families is difficult to do. And these Parent-Teacher Conferences are a good opportunity to really touch base and have some honest and maybe more intense conversations about students,”

Torgerson went on to explain that the Conference would be like an open-house format similar to how the Elementary School has done their Parent-Teacher Conferences. They can set up an appointment with teachers to discuss their children rather than having to potentially stand outside of a classroom waiting for them to be available from another parent and can discuss what they need to quickly and continue to other teachers.

He also wanted to remind parents of the school district that even though this upcoming Conference is an excellent way for parents to meet with teachers to discuss their children’s progress in school, and that the school’s teachers and offices are always available and willing to meet with parents anytime, before and after school to discuss anything regarding the students. “Our teachers are always meeting with parents, here and there, and so, they’re always willing to meet before school, after school, during preps. We have great teachers in the district, and they really care about these kids, and they just want to see these kids succeed,” said Torgerson.

Grades have been finalized over the past couple weeks from the first semester of the year, and the Honor Roll is nearly ready to be announced to the students at Crookston High School. Out of the 570 students, nearly half of the student body made the Honor Roll, with 76 students making the “A” Honor Roll and another 179 making the “B” Honor Roll. Each of those students will receive a printed certificate recognizing their achievement and will be officially announced to them in the near future.
