CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL WILL HOST 2019 VISUAL ARTS FESTIVAL

Crookston High School will host the 2019 Visual Arts Festival on Wednesday, April 10 from 12:00 to 5:30 p.m.  The Visual Arts Festival is an MN State Art Contest open to Region 8A high school students.  This will Crookston’s third year as host for the festival. 

An estimated 120 students from 11 area high schools will bring 160 pieces of artwork to the contest to be judged.  The six judges will score the artwork in 12 categories choosing one from each category to represent Region 8A in Perpich Center for the Arts State Exhibit in May. 

The event will also feature several presentations.  Jeremy Holien, an instructor and Outreach Director at the Perpich Center will facilitate a meeting with all attending art teachers.  There will also be five hands-on workshops for the students throughout the afternoon.  The presenters are:

Trey Everett – drawing calligrams
Elizabeth Rockstad – mosaics
Jill Levene – printmaking
Ross Hier – watercolor painting
Abby Brekken – digital photography

The public is invited to attend a viewing beginning at 4:00 p.m. concluding with the awards presentation at 5:00 p.m.
