CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL WILL HOST WORLD OF WORK EVENT WEDNESDAY

Crookston High School Counselor Leah Zimmerman has been busy working with Erica Terpstra from Fisher Schools to create a new age job/college for high school students.  On Wednesday night, local students and their parents are invited to Crookston High School to learn about the education needed to work in the six areas of work prevalent in northwest Minnesota.  The six areas of work are:

  • Business Management and Administration
  • Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources
  • Arts, Communications and Information Systems
  • Engineering, Manufacturing, and Technology
  • Health Science Technology
  • Human Services

“One thing that I’ve told the students is if you want to work in Health Science or Health Care the information stays the same,” said Leah Zimmerman.  “RiverView is going to present in that area, and maybe the student doesn’t want to work at RiverView, but they want to work at the Villa or another healthcare facility.  The process to become a nurse is going to be the same no matter where you go, so you’re going to be getting valuable information.”

The World of Work Event begins at 6:00 p.m. with an orientation in the High School Auditorium and then students will have the opportunity to attend up to three different orientation sessions for the areas of work that interest them the most.  For more on the World of Work event on Wednesday, listen to Focus on Education on Saturday morning at 8:45 a.m. on KROX.
