CROOKSTON HIGH SCHOOL WOWS WITH ONE-ACT, DOESN’T ADVANCE

The Crookston High School One-Act play cast and crew competed in the Section 8A championship in Crookston on Saturday. Crookston performed ‘The Remarkable Susan’, a dramatization of the trial of Susan B. Anthony after she and a number of other women attempted to vote.

Director Beth Carlson said she was proud of the students and thought they had a good shot to win.  “I was so proud of our kids,” said Carlson.  “You never know who they are going to choose.  And of course, we’re competing against all the different winners from the (sub) sections and it’s been a wonderful day.  No matter what happens, I’m just so pleased with the performance of these kids today.  They were at the top of their game.  As far as I’m concerned, we won.”

Despite the outstanding performance Crookston’s One-Act won’t advance to state. Bagley High School had an excellent performance titled “Badger” to win the section competition. And Blackduck was runner-up with their performance “Ledge”.

The other schools competing were –

Ada-Borup – “Paul’s Case”
