CROOKSTON MAN CHARGED WITH 4 FELONIES AFTER ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTING A WOMAN

Angel Alberto Torres-Sosa, 31 of Crookston, made his first court appearance on October 20 for alleged Kidnapping, attempted gross sexual imposition, and kidnapping.

The charges stem from an incident on October 15 when Torres-Sosa gave the victims a ride home from a Grand Forks bar. Instead of taking them home, they ended up in a basement where he allegedly choked a woman after resisting his sexual advances. The woman went unconscious and woke up after a physical altercation, and the woman bit his lip. Shortly after, the woman was able to escape.

Torres-Sosa is charged with two Class A felonies – kidnapping and attempted gross sexual imposition using force. He was also charged with two Class C felonies – aggravated assault and terrorizing. The Class A felonies have maximum sentences of 20 years in prison.

The judge agreed to a $250,000 cash or surety bond and no contact with the victim. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on November 20.
