Students from Crookston Public Schools recently participated in the regional Math Masters Challenge in Bemidji. Both fifth and sixth-grade teams represented Crookston in this annual academic competition, which highlights students’ mathematical problem-solving skills, teamwork, and perseverance.
The fifth-grade team earned a score of 39, placing 8th out of 20 teams. Individually, Elias Sinks was Crookston’s top math problem solver, earning an impressive 3rd place overall out of 94 competitors.
Crookston was also represented by a strong sixth-grade team. These students competed in both individual and team rounds, working through a variety of challenging mathematical problems.
Students in the Math Masters competition participate in multiple rounds, including fact drills, individual problem-solving, and team-based challenges. The competition emphasizes critical thinking, accuracy, and collaboration.
Math Masters, established in 1989, promotes excellence in mathematics and recognizes students for their academic achievement and effort. Thousands of students across Minnesota and Wisconsin participate each year.
Crookston students represented their school with pride and demonstrated strong effort throughout the competition.
