The Crookston Music Trip Parent Organization has decided to postpone this year’s trip to Florida. “The Crookston Music Trip Parents Organization decided to postpone this year’s trip to Florida,” said the board’s president Chris Fee. “We don’t know the exact dates but once we get working on that it will be in late March like it normally is. There are several reasons why. Obviously, COVID – we still don’t think it’s going to be safe to go this summer. We haven’t been able to even look at planning as far as group packages at Disney. Also, they are not taking applications to march or host those groups at Disney World. That is another reason why. Talking with Bergan Travel we figured it would be better to delay it one year.”
Fee said the board will seek school board approval for the planned postponement. “We wanted to make sure we get the announcement out now,” said Fee. “Because we are postponing it to a different school year (March of 2022). That is all pending school board approval. They would have to give us approval since we said we were going to go this March and then we asked if we could postpone it to the summer. They said that would be fine. We just want to check with the school board and see if we can postpone it since it will be a different school year but the same kids going.”
The seniors graduating this spring would no longer be able to on the trip, so the board has taken steps to refund their money. “We had a meeting with the seniors recently to let them know we are postponing until next March,” said Fee. “We wanted to let them know first because they won’t be able to go on the trip. We lose around 15 seniors who won’t be able to go on the trip. We are refunding their money. Everything they get back whether cash or some proceeds from frozen food sales or music bucks.”
