CROOKSTON PIRATE BASEBALL FALLS TO FERGUS FALLS

The Crookston Pirate Baseball team has traveled to Fergus Falls to play the Otters in a Section 8AA game.  The game started at 5:30 p.m. because Fergus Falls played Willmar earlier in the day.

Crookston had a great start to the game when George Widman doubled and scored on a Fergus Falls error for a 1-0 lead.  Alex Longoria reached on the error, and stole second and third base.  Ashton Larson singled, and runners were at the corners before Larson stole second base.  The next two batters struck out, and Crookston led 1-0.
The lead didn’t last long as Fergus Falls responded with eight runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Otters started with three singles.  A sacrifice fly, followed by a double, a batter reaching on an error, another double, a hit batter, and a double to take an 8-1 lead after one inning of play.

In the second inning, Fergus Falls added two more runs with a single, walk, a pass ball, and another single for a 10-1 lead.  In the third inning, Fergus Falls added two more runs with a hit, an error, a walk, and two singles for a 12-1 lead after three innings of play.

In the fourth inning, Fergus Falls added two more runs when the leadoff batter reached on an error, the next batter singled, and two hits later, the Otters had a 14-1 lead after four innings.

Crookston finally got back on the board in the top of the fifth innings when Longoria walked, stole second base, stole third base, and scored on an Ashton Larson double to get within a 14-2 deficit with two outs.  Crookston needed at least three more runs to keep the game going, but the next batter popped out and Fergus Falls won 14-2 in five innings.
