CROOKSTON PIRATE BOY’S GOLF WIN THE EAST GRAND FORKS MEET

The Crookston Pirate Boys Golf team won the three-team East Grand Forks Invitational played at Valley Golf Course in East Grand Forks.  Crookston shot a 309, 24 strokes better than East Grand Forks.  “It turned out to be a beautiful day, but we had a few raindrops early in the day, but it was a good day for golf,” said Pirate Coach Steve Kofoed. “They guys golfed well today and definitely played with some confidence.”
The teams played nine of the holes twice because the old nine was affected by flooding.  The par for the course today was 69.
Crookston was led by Brock Heppner and Ben Andringa with 76’s. “Brock ended up starting six over on the first four holes and settled down and was able to play the last 13 holes at one over par so that was great,” said Coach Kofoed. “Ben started off with a double bogey on the first hole and played the rest of his first nine and golfed one under in the next eight holes and was even after the first nine and any time you can do that is fantastic.” Jack Ricord was one stroke behind with a 77.  “Jack’s short game was on and he had a birdie on a two-foot putt so he was very solid,” said Coach Kofoed. “If we can get those three guys to golf like they did today we are going to be in good shape.”
Crookston will travel to Bemidji on Friday to play the Town and Country Club course.
