CROOKSTON PIRATE GIRL’S SWIMMING FINISHES FOURTH IN PIRATE INVITE

The Crookston Pirate Girl’s Swimmers finished fourth place with 38 points in the Crookston Pirate Invitational meet held at the Crookston Community Pool.  Detroit Lakes won the meet with 164 points.  “The girls were more nervous today than they usually are,” said Pirate Coach Marley Melbye.  “They really swam well and we have so many that are new to competitive swimming and they really stepped up today.”

Crookston was led by Madison Hoiland with a first-place finish in the 100 freestyle, a second-place finish in the 100 Breaststroke, and two third-place finishes in relays.  “Madison swam a great 100 freestyle, a race she doesn’t normally swim,” said Coach Melbye. “She finished strong and that might be an event that she continues to swim.”

“I liked watching three girls, Claire Oman, Naomi Olson, and Chloe Boll swim in the 500 and they were pretty close together,” said Coach Melbye.  “We challenged some of our new swimmers like Mollie Sameulson and she did well.  Evy Gunderson looked great for being new to the team.  Once we got the nerves out of the way, the girls stepped up and continue to grow.”

Crookston will host Park Rapids in a dual on Tuesday, September 21.  You can watch the meet on the KROX live stream.
