TCrookston took advantage of a beautiful day and played solid tennis as they beat the Moorhead Spuds 6-1 at the Crookston High School Tennis Courts.
CROOKSTON VS MOORHEAD –
Crookston won three of the singles matches and three doubles matches. Crookston’s Ashlyn Bailey found out earlier this week that she will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, so the Pirates used a different lineup on Thursday. Chloe Boll had a rollercoaster of a match. She won the first set 7-5. She lost the second set 6-0 to force a third set. Chloe played some outstanding tennis and won the set 6-0 to win the match.
Lauren Tull moved up to second singles and continued her solid play as she cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Grace Boll had a solid match at fourth singles and cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 victory to give the Pirates three singles wins.
On the doubles side, Crookston’s first doubles team of Emma LaPlante and Logan Brekken took care of business as they coasted to a 6-0, 6-3 victory. The second doubles team of Ava Martin and Emelia Hoerner teamed up to win their match 6-2, 6-1.
The third doubles match was another rollercoaster as Lucy Smith and Taylor Schulz lost the first set 7-6 but bounced back to win the second set 6-1. The Pirates won the third set 6-3 to win the match for a 6-1 victory.
Crookston improves to 8-7 on the year and will host Park Rapids and Roseau on Saturday and wrap up the regular season on Tuesday when they take on East Grand Forks.
