CROOKSTON VS BEMIDJI –
The Bemidji Lumberjacks showed Crookston why they are undefeated on the year as they handled the Pirates 7-0.
The first doubles team of Kaylie Clauson and Addie Fee had the closest match as they lost 6-3 in the first set and won a thriller in the second set 7-6 before falling in the third set 10-4. “They played well,” said Coach Fee. “Bemidji has a really good team and it was a good match.”
Ashlyn Bailey lost a hard-fought 6-3, 6-2 match at first singles, and Emelia Hoerner lost at fourth singles 6-4, 6-2 in a back-and-forth match.
“Ashlyn battled out there, and Emelia’s match was closer than the score indicated.” The heat hampered the Pirates in the second match of the day in back-to-back matches. “I feel we need to condition more and when we play back-to-back it seems like we don’t have the endurance,” said Coach Fee. “We will have to do it again on Thursday. Bemidji is tough and they are competitive and so good. We had some girls that competed and we definately need some more grit.”

Crookston is 12-5 on the year and will travel to the Thief River Falls triangular on Thursday where they will play #7 ranked Staples-Motley and #9 ranked Thief River Falls.
