The Crookston High School Speech team competed at Bemidji on Saturday, bringing home multiple awards.
Shayla Azure and Zac Plante competed in duo interpretation against 20 other teams and earned fifth place. Plante also competed in humor and received a red ribbon (excellent).
Bemidji also awards the Future Star Award to students who are in the novice division (grades 7-9 and first year in speech) and were at the top of their category without making finals. Leah Johanneck competed in original oratory and received this award, as did Lily Olmstead, who competed in storytelling.
Also competing included Jaden Newquist in drama, Shayla Azure in drama, Ciaran Mulvey in prose, John Lisov in humor, and Ivan Luckow in discussion.
