The Crookston Pirate Wrestling team traveled to Fosston to take on the Fosston/Bagley Brawlers, and Fosston/Bagley would get a strong 54-6 win.
CROOKSTON VS FOSSTON/BAGLEY –
The match started with a back-and-forth battle at 107 pounds between Crookston’s Mauricio Arriaga and Fosston/Bagley’s Eli Prakonkham. Prakonkham was able to get five points in the third period for a 12-7 win, which gave Fosston/Bagley a 3-0 lead. In the 114-pound match between Crookston’s Gabe Perala and Fosston/Bagley’s Jack LaCroix, LaCroix would get a second-period pin to give Fosston/Bagley a 9-0 lead. In the 121-pound match, Crookston’s Masyn Arguelles took on Fosston/Bagley’s Ian Prakonkham, and Prakonkham would win on a first-period pin to give the Brawlers a 15-0 lead.
Crookston forfeited the 127-pound match, which gave Fosston/Bagley a 21-0 lead. The 133-pound match was between Crookston’s Jaron Knutson and Fosston/Bagley’s Shane Thompson, and it would be Thompson getting the 9-3 win to give Fosston/Bagley a 24-0 lead. Crookston was open at 139, so Fosston/Bagley would get a 30-0 lead. In the 145-pound match, Crookston’s Lucas Perala took on Fosston/Bagley’s Aiden Wolfe, and Wolfe would get a pin in the second period to give Fosston/Bagley a 36-0 lead. The 152-pound match featured Crookston’s Jose Arriaga and Fosston/Bagley’s Gunner Nolan. Arriaga took a quick 2-0 lead in the first period, but Nolan battled back with six points to get the 6-2 win and put the Brawlers up 39-0.
Crookston’s Lukas Helgeson took on Fosston/Bagley’s Mason Erickson, and Erickson secured a first-period pin to give Fosston/Bagley a 45-0 lead. In the 172-pound match, Crookston’s Carter Coauette took on Jacob Rudie for Fosston/Bagley. Coauette would get a late second-period pin to give Crookston their lone win of the match and make it 45-6. In the 189-pound match, Crookston’s Miles Comeillie went up against Fosston/Bagley’s Luke Sannes as Sannes would get a second-period pin to give Fosston/Bagley a 51-6 lead. In the final match at 285 pounds, Crookston’s Riley Helgeson went against Fosston/Bagley’s Jonathan Rose, and Rose got a 9-3 win.
Fosston/Bagley won the match 54-6.
Crookston drops to 2-10 on the season in duals and will compete in the Thief River Falls tournament on Saturday. Fosston/Bagley improves to 6-2 on the year in duals.
