PIRATE WRESTLERS BEAT BARNESVILLE, FALL TO DGF IN TRIANGULAR

The Crookston Pirates Wrestlers battled Barnesville and Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton in a triangular on Tuesday night. The Pirates were able to take down Barnesville while falling to Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton for a 1-1 record on the night.

CROOKSTON VS BARNESVILLE – 
Crookston started the match as they do in most duals, with an Evin Trudeau victory at 106-pounds with a pin in the first period for a 6-0 lead. 
Crookston was open at 113, but Gavin Hlucny gave Crookston the lead with a pin with six seconds left in the first period and the Pirates led 12-6. 
Barnesville won the next two matches by pin before Crookston bounced back with a Carter Coauette victory at 138-pounds.  Carter won his match by pin halfway through the second period to tie the match at 18.  Ethan Bowman followed with a win by pin 44-seconds into the second period to give the Pirates a 24-18 lead halfway through the match.  
Barnesville won at 152-pounds by a pin before Crookston won the next four matches.  Spencer Ness had the most exciting match of the dual with an 8-6 victory in overtime.  Both teams were open at 170-pounds.  Hunter Knutson and Hunter Kresl won by forfeit and Ethan Boll won by a pin in the second period and the Pirates led 45-24.  Barnesville won the heavyweight match by pin and Crookston won the dual 45-30.

CROOKSTON VS DILWORTH-GLYNDON-FELTON
Crookston had a good start with Evin Trudeau winning his match by a pin in 79-seconds to give the Pirates a 6-0 lead to start the dual.  DGF responded with four wins, three by pin, and one by forfeit for a 24-6 lead.  Crookston got back on the winning track when Carter Coauette dominated his match and picked up a 17-6 major decision.  Ethan Bowman wrestled a solid match at 145-pounds and won by a 12-4 margin for the second straight major decision win to bring the Pirates within a 24-14 deficit.  DGF won four of the next five matches with two pins, a forfeit, and a decision.  The lone Pirate win in that stretch came from Spencer Ness with a 9-3 decision at 160-pounds. 
Crookston’s Ethan Boll continued his domination tour as he won by a pin in 72-seconds to bring his team within a 42-23 deficit.  Park Rapids won the heavyweight match by pin and won the match 48-23.
