CROOKSTON PLANNING COMMISSION APPROVE OTTERTAIL EASEMENT TO WOOD’S ADDITION ACROSS RED LAKE RIVER

The Crookston Planning Commission met on Tuesday night in the Crookston City Hall Council Chambers for a regular meeting. After the Call to Order, the board began by approving the minutes from their last meeting on January 17, which the board approved unanimously.

Valley Tech Park Tenant Space Lease Agreement

The Commission discussed a lease agreement with Christine Anderson of the University of Minnesota to lease Office #101 at Valley Tech Park for the Small Business Development Grant Office.
“The city has a lease agreement with the University of Minnesota, and the University houses the Small Business Development Grant Office. That is the city’s contribution toward the success of that group,” City Administrator Charles “Corky” Reynolds explained. “It’s an office at Valley Tech Park, and we have a two-year lease agreement where they pay no rent, so it has value, and that value is the city’s contribution towards the Small Business Development Entity.”
The lease will be available for April 26, 2023, to April 25, 2025. The board approved the agreement unanimously.

Ottertail Power Company Easement near Red Lake River and Holly Avenue

The Commission discussed an easement by Ottertail Power, which intend to install underground electrical cabling within Crookston by providing power feeds across the Red Lake River by Holly Avenue.
“The easement is just for providing power underground that is currently served overhead that’s just a few lots down near Holly Avenue,” Building Inspector Greg Hefta explained. “This easement is going to have them bore under the Red Lake River and provide that power for the woods addition or back over, depending on where they feed the power from.”
The easement will be on the north side of the Red Lake River to allow new underground conductors/feed to be installed by Ottertail under the river by replacing the overhead power line and their conductors that are near failure. Ottertail requested the work needs to be provided with an easement on Block 10, Lot 3 of Cromb & Sletten’s Subdivision, to access these power lines for installation and future maintenance and repair work. The board approved the easement unanimously.

The Crookston Planning Commission will next meet on Tuesday, April 18, in the Crookston City Hall Council Chambers.
