CROOKSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ARRESTS 25-YEAR-OLD AFTER FOUR-WHEELER CHASE

On Sunday, February 4, at approximately 11:42 a.m., a Crookston Police Officer attempted to make contact with a male, Skyler Beliles, 25, of Wichita, Kansas, who was operating a 2003 Yamaha Raptor all-terrain vehicle (ATV) illegally and recklessly in the downtown area of Crookston. As Beliles observed the officer, he fled at a high rate of speed. Beliles was traveling on sidewalks and through business parking lots with vehicles and pedestrians present. At one point, Beliles was traveling the wrong way (northbound) against traffic on North Main Street, which is a three-lane one-way street.

Beliles then began traveling south on Market Street, where he ran into a Crookston Police squad car. Beliles was transported to RiverView Emergency Room, where he was medically cleared, and later transported to Northwest Regional Corrections Center. Beliles is being held on several charges including, but not limited to, fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, illegal operation of an ATV, careless/reckless driving, driving without a valid driver’s license, and DWI.

The Crookston Police Department was assisted by the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, Minnesota State Patrol, and Crookston Area Ambulance.
