CROOKSTON POLICE DEPARTMENT ADDS NEW OFFICER TO THE STAFF

The Crookston Police Department’s new police officer, Robert Haugen, officially started working on Monday, June 17.

Haugen, originally from Sioux Falls, graduated from Fosston High School before earning an associate degree in Criminal Justice from Northland Community & Technical College. While there, he did some security work for the college. Haugen has also worked as a Dispatcher for Pennington County and in Corrections for around a year. His most recent work experience prior to joining the Crookston Police Department was as a Deputy with the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.

“Working in Crookston, I enjoy the area here. It’s a small enough town where you know people, but it is still big enough to do stuff,” said Haugen. “I love how oriented the police department is with the city, doing functions with them, different activities throughout the year, and being a part of the community.”

Haugen is looking forward to working with and for the community. “I know I’m good at talking with people, and I get along with pretty much everyone,” said Haugen. “So, the thing that I think is going to help the community is being able to talk to them, work with them, build rapport, and really level with people. Where I can use my discretion.”
