CROOKSTON POLICE MAKE CONTACT WITH MISSING CROOKSTON WOMAN

The Crookston Police Department has had phone contact with Ellen Simmons.  She has also made contact with other people in Crookston and with family from outside the area.  Ellen is apparently safe and in good health and will be returning to Crookston in the very near future.

Statement from Chief Paul Biermaier

“We did have contact with her via phone over the last 24 hours and what we’ve been able to find out she’s had contact with some friends, family, and other people,” said Biermaier.  “She is out of the area but has indicated she will be working her way back to Crookston.  Right now, we’re still concerned with her and want to make sure she is safe and healthy.  And by all indication she is.  We hope to talk to her when she comes back to verify that to make sure everything is good and well with her.”

ORIGINAL RELEASE

The Crookston Police Department is requesting help from the public in locating Ellen Kay (Durham) Simmons of Crookston who was reported missing on Saturday, August 17th.  The last known contact with Simmons was at the Law Enforcement Center in Bagley, MN the afternoon of Thursday, August 15th.  At that time Simmons indicated she was attempting to get to Bemidji, MN and was possibly waiting for someone driving from Crookston to pick her up and give her a ride.  Simmons left home without her cellphone and medications. 

Simmons is 45 years old, approximately 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 158 lbs, has brown eyes and brown hair.  She was last seen wearing an orange/brown tank top, black multi-colored capri-leggings, and brown sandals. 

Anyone with any information regarding the location of Simmons is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency. 

This is an active investigation; the Crookston Police Department has been in contact with the Bagley PD, Clearwater County Sheriff’s Department, the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Bemidji law enforcement and the MN BCA.
