CROOKSTON POLICE OFFICER ON PAID LEAVE AS CITY INVESTIGATES COMPLAINT

The City of Crookston has placed Crookston Police Officer Sean Murphy on paid leave. Below is a statement provided by the City of Crookston Friday –

Sean Murphy began employment with the City of Crookston Police Department as a Patrol Officer on April 1, 2018 and has served the city as a Patrol Sergeant since December 31, 2019.

Sean Murphy is currently on paid leave.

There is a complaint against Sean Murphy as a city employee. The city is investigating the complaint.

The City takes any complaints about its police officers seriously and takes any appropriate actions to resolve such concerns.

The City is confident that the Crookston Police Department will continue to provide public safety functions for the community safely, effectively, and efficiently.

Due to data privacy laws; primarily, Minnesota Statutes, section 13.43 (personnel data) providing that all data on city personnel is private (not public) unless otherwise expressly stated as public in such statute; the city cannot share any other information, at this point, related to this matter.
