The Crookston Public Library will host a bee-themed event for youth on Wednesday, July 14 at 2 p.m. Steph Anderson, beekeeper and owner of Bear Paw Honey Bees, will demonstrate how plants and our
food supply are kept alive by pollinators. Plus, youth will get a first-hand look at what it takes to be a beekeeper and the equipment they use. This event is offered free-of-charge at the Crookston Public Library, which is located at 110 N. Ash St.
The following week, youth are invited to visit the library to learn about nature with a fun, hands-on activity hosted by Katie Becker, extension educator for 4H Youth Development in Polk County. The 4H Activity is scheduled at the Crookston Public Library, 110 N. Ash St., on Wednesday, July 21 at 2 p.m.
Staff from the Headwaters Science Center will present “Raptors Rule” at the Crookston Public Library, on July 28 at 2 p.m. This event offers youth an exciting opportunity to get a close-up view of live raptors and learn about the characteristics that make raptors different from other birds. The Crookston Alliance for Literacy and Learning (CALL) and the United Way are sponsoring the event.
These events are offered free-of-charge as part of the library’s 2021 Tales & Trails Summer Library Experience, inviting youth to read to win great prizes, as well as attend outdoor events in celebration of the tales and trails of the region. Those interested in participating are encouraged to stop by their local library or LINK Site or track their reading virtually using the Beanstack app (download the app at larl.org/explore/kids). Information about the program and event lists are available at larl.org/explore <https://larl.org/explore/kids>.
