Crookston Public Library has a wide variety of events and activities scheduled for this summer. There will be events for all ages; most of the events will be entertaining as well as informative.
SUMMER LIBRARY EXPERIENCE
The library will have a program called Summer Library Experience (SLE). “The Summer Library Experience program, the SLE program, is really to prevent the summer slide. We want to encourage people to read; there are prizes for the kids that read, and then we always have the programming along with it,” said Crookston Public Library’s Chris Boike. “That’s an every summer thing, and then we provide additional programs for various ages on various subjects throughout the year.”
Wednesday, June 12, the library will have space experiments and science lessons from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Thursday, June 20, the library will host “Lost in Space,” with Magic Bob from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, June 26, Super Space Simulation will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 10 – Space Buddies will play at the Grand Theatre from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 17 – Explore a dome, the traveling planetarium, will be hosted at Crookston High School. The event is presented by the University of Minnesota’s Natural History Museum and the Bell Museum.
Wednesday, July 24 – There will be an outer space drawing class and watch party from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Wednesday, July 31 – The finale of the space-related events will be the Galaxy Adventure with the MSUM planetarium.
SUMMER CONCERT SERIES
The summer concert series that the Crookston Public Library puts on will kick off Thursday, June 20. All concerts are free of charge. The first concert will be held at the downtown square, while the remaining two will be on the library’s front lawn. The concerts for the summer are as follows-
- Tuckered Out, June 20, at 6:00 p.m.
- Gentleman Dreadnought, July 18, at 6:00 p.m.
- Uptown, August 15, at 6:00 p.m.
FINAL COMMENTS
The public is welcome and all events are free of charge. “Just come on out because you’ll not only be entertained,” said Boike. “They are very educational a lot of them in nature, but again they are very entertaining.”
