Join your library to learn about the significance of the Jingle Dress to local Native people, including the history of how it came to the Ojibwe by a dream, why it is considered a healing dress, and how the Ojibwe gifted it to other tribes.
“Dancing Into the Future” will be held at the Crookston Public Library on Saturday, September 17, at 11:00 a.m. It will feature a presentation of four Jingle Dresses, dance demonstrations, and a drum circle. Artist Christy Goulet will host the program and will give a detailed oral account as well as answer audience questions. She is a tribally enrolled member of the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.
This program will be offered free of charge and open to the public. The program is made possible in part thanks to funding from the Minnesota Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund.
