CROOKSTON PUBLIC LIBRARY TO HOST SUMMER READING EVENT ON JUNE 5

3-2-1 Blast Off! Lake Agassiz Regional Library is bringing an outer space-themed Summer Library Experience to youth and teens in Crookston and surrounding communities. Beginning June 1, participants can read to win prizes and attend out-of-this-world programs at the library, which will be held weekly. Participants are encouraged to stop by their local library or LINK Site to pick up a reading log and events list.

The fun kicks off on Wednesday, June 5, at 2 p.m. with a program featuring special guest Meteorologist Lisa Green helping children explore the atmosphere. The following week, youth will learn how to conduct experiments and learn about planets and rockets with a program facilitated by North Dakota’s Gateway to Science on Wednesday, June 12, at 1 p.m. All programs are offered free of charge.

The Summer Library Experience is a program of Lake Agassiz Regional Library and will be offered from June 1 to July 31 at libraries and LINK Sites in the following communities: Ada, Bagley, Barnesville, Breckenridge, Climax, Crookston, Detroit Lakes, Fertile, Fosston, Hawley, Mahnomen, McIntosh and Moorhead. LARL’s LINK sites are found in Cormorant, Frazee, Gonvick, Halstad, Hendrum, Lake Park, Rothsay, Twin Valley, and Ulen.  A number of fun programs will be held in connection with the reading challenge, including Magic Shows, theater productions, craft events, and much more. All programs are offered free of charge. More information is available at larl.org, and a full list of programs can be found at larl.org/explore
