Crookston residents Mark and LeAnn Halland are seeking help to support their Grandson Caleb’s journey to donate a kidney to his father Jason Halland

Longtime Crookston residents, Mark and LeAnn Halland, are reaching out to the Crookston Community for help supporting their Grandson Caleb Halland (23), who wants to donate a kidney to his dad, Jason Halland. Jason was diagnosed with early-stage Chronic Kidney Disease in his 20s, and the disease progressed to Stage 5 in 2023. Jason has been undergoing dialysis three times a week, and it has taken a toll on him physically. Jason needs a kidney transplant, and Caleb, one of Jason’s six children, wants to be the donor.

Caleb does not have health insurance, but his father’s insurance will cover his hospital bills.  Caleb’s Grandparents are asking for help covering travel and hotels as Caleb travels back and forth to Mayo for testing, pre-op, surgery, and post-op, as well as the wages that will be lost by taking the time off work. Caleb started the testing on June 16 to see if he would be a match for his father.  If he is not, he will donate a kidney to become a living donor so his dad can get a kidney from another living donor through the kidney bank.

If you would like to help the Halland family you can join them at the Crookston Eagles Club on June 27th from 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m.  They will be taking donations or gift baskets for the silent auction. The Hallands say that no contribution is too small. Any help is greatly appreciated and will make a world of difference. You can also donate by calling 218-289-2345 or by emailing lmhalland@gmail.com, and the Hallands will make arrangements to pick up anything you wish to donate. The Hallands thank you for your generosity and support.
