CROOKSTON SCHOOL BOARD WILL MEET ON MONDAY TO APPROVE REFERENDUM AMOUNT AND POLICY UPDATES

The Crookston School Board will meet on Monday, October 24, at 5:00 p.m. inside the Crookston High School Media Center. The meeting is open to the public, with public hearings for visitors who wish to share concerns with the school board.

The Consent Agenda will include the approval of the minutes of the Regular Meeting that took place on September 26 and all of their current bills. The Consent Agenda will also approve the employment of Elementary Phy Ed. Teacher Benjamin Parkin, Highland Kitchen Helper Theresa Brule-Haggerty, and High School Kitchen Helper Karen Reierson, the retirement letter of Highland Elementary School 5th-Grade Teacher Marcia Scholler, the resignation letter of both High School Kitchen Helper Cindy Johnson, and Highland Elementary Special Ed Teacher Stephanie Tappe. The final items on the Consent Agenda will be to approve an Leave of Absence request from High School Science Teacher Jessica Hanson, and the Winter Coaches list.

The Main Agenda will include approving the Final Audit and the Referendum’s date and amount. It will also include approving MSHSL Resolution Application Form A and the updates of the Review & Comment for the proposed Multiuse Outdoor Complex. It will also include approving and replacing the existing District Reading and Math Proficiency goal for the 2022-23 School Year. The final item on the agenda will be to approve the Policy Updates as recommended by the Policy Committee. These Policies include Policy 806: Crisis Management, which will be done with an annual review and presentation, the first reading of Policy 722: Public Data Request, and the first reading of Policies 208, 209, 210, 410, 415, 417, 515, 603, 604, 708, & 721.

The board will then hear Administrative Reports from Washington School Principal Denice Oliver, Highland Elementary Principal Chris Trostad, and Crookston High School Principal Matt Torgerson about events and progress at their respective schools. Crookston Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dave Kuehn will also give a report about actions and plans for the school district.

The next School Board meeting will take place on Monday, November 28, at 5:00 p.m. at the Crookston High School Choir/Orchestra Room.
