CROOKSTON SCHOOL BOARD WILL MEET ON MONDAY TO DISCUSS POLICY UPDATES AND DISTRICT PLANS

The Crookston School Board will meet on Monday, August 22, at 5:00 p.m. inside the Choir/Orchestra Room in the Crookston High School. The meeting is open to the public with public hearings for visitors who wish to share concerns with the school board.

The Consent Agenda will include the approval of the minutes of the Regular Meeting that took place on July 25 and all of their current bills. The Consent Agenda will also include the acceptance of resignation letters from Crookston High School Special Ed Instructor Allison Ozaki, Highland Elementary School Paraprofessional Scott Mustain and Special Ed Instructor Susan Akerlind, and Multicultural Liaison Donna Hartel. It will also approve the Salary Land Advance requests and the list of Fall Coaches. The final items on the Consent Agenda include approving the employment of High School Paraprofessionals Rachael Thompson, Jenny Slyt, and Kathleen Mulvey, Highland Paraprofessionals Bianca D’Amato, Katrina Gonzalez, Stacy Sirek, Tabitha Spears, and Susan Anderson, Washington Paraprofessionals Danielle Edlund, and Olivia Anderson, High School JH Interventionist Erin Marsyla, High School Head Cook Emily Olson and Kitchen Helper Cindy Johnson, Washington Kindergarten Teacher Adrianne Winger, Washington Instructional/SAC Aide Wanneta Wilhelm, Instructional Aide Kathleen Goodyke, Highland .6 FTE Phy. Ed Instructor Scott Oliver, Special Education Instructor Susan Akerlind, and .5 FTE Art Instructor Gary Stegman. It will also approve a position change for Stephanie Tappe from a Paraprofessional to a Special Education Instructor.

The Main Agenda will include approving the District Safe Learning Plan and District Teacher Evaluation Plan. It will also include approving this year’s CHS Staff Handbook and the increase in Adult Meal Prices. The Agenda will also include approving Policy Updates for Minnesota School Boards Association (MSBA) Policies 416 about Drug & Alcohol Testing, Policy 418 about a Drug-Free Workplace/School, Policy 524 about Internet Acceptable Use and Safety Policy, and other non-substantive Policies recommended by the MSBA. The Main Agenda will also include approving an Extra-Curricular Concession Services Agreement with Lucky Duck Food Truck and the Girls’ Swimming & Diving Cooperative with the Fosston/Bagley School District. The final item on the Main Agenda will be to Set the Truth in Taxation Meeting date for December 12, at 6:00 p.m.

The board will then hear Administrative Reports from Washington School Principal Denice Oliver, Highland Elementary Principal Chris Trostad, and Crookston High School Principal Matt Torgerson about events and progress at their respective schools. Crookston Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dave Kuehn will also give a report about actions and plans for the school district.

The next School Board meeting will take place on Monday, September 26, at 5:00 p.m. at the Crookston High School Choir/Orchestra Room.
