CROOKSTON WASTE WATER DEPARTMENT TO CONDUCT SMOKE TESTING OF SEWER MAINS TODAY

The Crookston Waste Water Department will conduct Smoke Testing of the Sewer Mains today (Tuesday, March 19). This routine check ensures the city’s sewer system’s integrity and identifies any leaks or issues.

During the testing, you might notice smoke entering your house. Please do not be alarmed. This smoke is non-toxic, does not create a health hazard, and is specifically designed for this purpose. It is safe for adults, children, and pets.

  • The presence of smoke indoors is likely due to a dry trap. It can be quickly resolved by pouring water into the drain. This reseals the trap and prevents smoke from entering through it.
  • Remember, the smoke is odorless and harmless.

If you have any questions, or if smoke enters your home and you want to report it, please do not hesitate to contact the Waste Water Department at 218-281-1232. Their team is there to assist and ensure the process is smooth and informative for everyone.
