CROOKSTON’S HALLE WINJUM SIGNS LETTER OF INTENET TO PLAY BASKETBALL AT UMC

Crookston High School’s Halle Winjum signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for the University of Minnesota Crookston Golden Eagles. Winjum is the daughter of Chris and Leah Winjum.

Winjum is a three-sport athlete and has gone to state in tennis, was named all-state honorable mention in girl’s basketball, and finished fourth place in the Section 8A pole vault competition this past year. Unfortunately for Winjum, she tore her ACL at the University of North Dakota Women’s Basketball camp on June 22.

While Winjum will miss her senior year of basketball, her goal of playing college basketball will come true. UMC will get an ultimate team player and competitor. Winjum broke the Crookston Girls Basketball individual game scoring record with 39 points while making a school-record eight three-pointers in a win over East Grand Forks on December 22, 2022. Winjum also surpassed 1,000 career points in the same game. She was named Minnesota High School Girls Basketball Coaches Association All-State honorable mention. Winjum was named the conference MVP this past season and also broke the school record with 209 defensive rebounds on the season.
