Curtis Brent Parsons – OBIT

Curtis Brent Parsons was born February 23, 1943 at Ada, MN, the son of Maurice and Vivian (Minette) Parsons. He died February 20, 2024, at Moorhead, MN after a short time in Hospice care.

He attended school in the Ada, MN school system, graduating in 1961. While in school he participated in football, basketball, and baseball. He was a lifelong sports fan starting with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1955. He became a lifelong Twins and Vikings fan. While attending school in Ada he enjoyed working in The Ada Bakery. After high school, Curt attended Moorhead State University from 1961 to 1964. In 1964 Curt was drafted by the US Army and served from 1964 to 1966. He received basic training at Fort Polk, LA, and continued training as part of an Atomic Demolition Munition unit at Fort Leonard Wood, MO, and Fort Belvoir, VA. On August 31, 1968, Curt married the love of his life Linda Gnadt of Lockhart, MN. They resided in Moorhead, MN, and had three children together. Most of Curt’s working career was an insurance inspector for several different insurance companies, the last being his own company, The Baldwin Huey Co. Curt coached Babe Ruth baseball for several years in Moorhead and was active in the early days of the Moorhead Youth Hockey Association. Starting in the late 90’s Curt took an interest in genealogy and through years of research was able to map the Parsons family tree back to the 1600s. While semi-retired, Curt developed an interest in poker and would play regularly in tournaments and cash games at casinos in the area. The trips to the casino were an activity he enjoyed with his wife Linda. They also took many trips together, the last of which being several months spent together in southwest Texas. During his final years, Curt enjoyed spending time with his family and watching sporting events.

Curt was known for his easy-going nature, intelligence, and his quick wit and sense of humor.

Curt was preceded in death by his father, Maurice; mother, Vivian; and brother, Gregory. Curt is survived by his wife, Linda; along with sons, Brent (Stefanie) of East Grand Forks, MN, and Ryan (Mel) of Port Jefferson, NY; and daughter, Marni Parsons of Moorhead, MN. Also surviving are grandchildren, Emily Otto, Ian Parsons, Ella Parsons, and Greta Parsons; sister, Nancy (Carlyle) Potratz of Zumbrota, MN; and brothers, Gary and Hal (Ann) Parsons, both of Fargo, ND. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the love, support, and prayers from friends and family during this challenging time. They would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Ethos Hospice and at Eventide for their care and compassion.
