CVB APPOINTS ANDY GREGG OF THE IRISHMAN’S SHANTY AS NEWEST BOARD MEMBER

The Crookston Visitors Bureau (CVB) met on Thursday at the Irishman’s Shanty and appointed the owner of the Irishman’s Shanty, Andy Gregg, to the board, to be the restaurant representative. The previous restaurant representative was Drafts Sports Bar and Grill owner Brent Melsa, who resigned in late December.

“I spoke to Andy, and he graciously accepted that role and wanted to be involved,” said CVB Chairman Bob Magsam, “This was perceived well by the board, and I think this will be a great addition.”

The meeting continued with the CVB approving the disbursements of marketing grants for Ice Buster Days and the Crookston Class of 1974 Reunion. Ice Buster Days will receive $600 for an advertising grant, and the Crookston Class of 1974 will receive $1,000. “Our grant application process is for any non-profit entities that want to bring an event to Crookston,” said Magsam, “If they need help with marketing or advertising, the class of 1974 approached me for a grant for sending fliers, brochures, and postcards.”

The Class of 1974 has a three-day event scheduled this upcoming summer, and the board felt they met the grant guideline criteria. Magsam also said the event will most likely bring revenue to hotels and local businesses during the three days.

With this being the CVB’s first meeting of 2024, the board took action to renew terms or accept resignations. The 2024 CVB board members include- Chairman Bob Magsam, Secretary Laurie Stahlecker, Vice Chair Ellie Koepp, Treasurer Dean Adams, and Restaurant Representative Andy Gregg. Other board members listed are Cory Dallager, Jess Bengston, Kristie Jerde, Henry Fischer, Ethan Christopherson, and John Brifgeford.

The consent agenda included the approval of minutes from the December meeting. It also included approving bills and disbursements in the amount of $233. The CVB will meet next on Thursday, February 8, at the Irishman’s Shanty.
