CVB RESCHEDULES AIRTIME SCHEDULE WITH BEK MEDIA AND MOVES FORWARD WITH SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

The Crookston Visitors Bureau met on Thursday morning inside the Crookston Inn.

BEK MEDIA ADVERTISEMENT UPDATE

Earlier this summer, the CVB agreed to terms with BEK media on a six-month commitment for Crookston to be featured on their “my hometown” segment, a 30-second video advertisement promoting Crookston.

Other Crookston entities have elected to work with BEK media since for advertising, so the CVB decided to restructure their airtime schedule. “The city did their commercial, the EDA gave their commercial, and CVB did their commercial,” said Chairmen of the CVB board Bob Magsam, “In terms of when those commercials are aired, it was an interesting discussion, and it was recommended that we hold off while the city pushes their message and the EDA pushing their message which is great.” Initially, the CVB would start airing their commercial in August and finish in January. Still, with other Crookston entities running their commercials simultaneously, the CVB will begin in December so that Crookston entities will have a more extended period on air.

CVB HIRES SOCIAL MEDIA INTERN

The CVB has moved forward with hiring a social media intern. This person is a UMC graduate, and their requirements are posting on Facebook and Instagram two to three times per week; they also present a spreadsheet to the board weekly showing the posts’ context, times, and influence. “We’ve had a lot of discussion with the board as far as our presence on social media, along with every other entity within our community,” said Magsam, “We need that presence out there, and we didn’t have a board member that commits that much time to social media. This grad student from UMC is more than willing to jump on board and has experience with other entities in this field. So, we’re going to move forward with this.”

OX CART DAY REIMBURSEMENT

The Ox Cart Days committee applied for a marketing grant this summer through the CVB for $3,000. The board suggested the Ox Cart committee submit their request soon and collect their receipts. “The chair of the Ox Cart Day committee reached out to me by email, and we’ll get that information in and get them paid,” said Magsam, “This was more of an informality of keeping it fresh in everybody’s mind so we can get that money disbursed as soon as possible.”
