Dana Drew Smith – Obit

Dana Drew Smith, 69, Halstad, MN, passed away from heart complications on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.  

Dana was born on February 20, 1952, to Robert and Goldie Smith. He grew up on a farm near Felton, MN. He graduated from Glyndon-Felton High School in 1970, and after graduation Drew joined the US Airforce and served 4 years of active duty and 2 years of inactive duty. At the time of release from his active duty, he was ranked as an E4 Sergeant.

Dana is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Goldie Smith; niece, Sarah Haasis; and brother in law, Melvin Matson.

He is survived by his daughter, Heather (Roger) Best of Perley, MN; sons, Robert Smith of Ada, MN, and Drew Smith of Halstad, MN; stepdaughters, Marie (Wayne) Andree, and Stephanie Hein; brothers and sisters, Susan Matson, John (Gayle) Smith, Tim (Maya) Smith, Robin (Al) Hill, Kelly (Candice) Smith, Jason (Carrie) Smith, and Chris (Kim) Smith; 14 nieces and nephews; 5 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 2:00 PM, Monday, November 1, 2021, at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Felton, MN. Due to COVID 19 concerns please wear a mask when attending the visitation and funeral.

Visitation: One hour before the funeral at the church.

Interment with full military rites: Ada Municipal Cemetery, Ada, MN.
