David John Hegge – OBIT

David John Hegge, 61, of Eldred, MN, passed away at his home on Monday, March 25th, 2024, of natural causes.

David was born in Crookston on May 28, 1962, the son of Orris Odin and Alice Erma (Thompson) Hegge. He grew up on the family’s farm, near Eldred, and was baptized and confirmed in the First English Lutheran Church in Eldred. David attended Climax Public School and graduated from Climax High School. He went on to attend the University of Minnesota Crookston and the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. David was a lifelong student, always seeking knowledge, be it in the field of science or the arts. He remained on the farm so he could provide company and care for his mother following the death of his father. For several years David enjoyed farming and raising chickens and turkeys. He was also an independent landscaper and worked as a painter with John Vraa of Climax.

David is survived by his son, Ryan James Holman of Bismarck, ND; brother, Kenneth Hegge of Mentor, MN; sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Roger Beiswenger of Fisher, MN; as well as, nieces and nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orris and Alice; 3 siblings: Donald Hegge, Elizabeth “Betty” Overgaard and her husband, Larry, and Dennis Hegge; nephews, Steven and Ethan Hegge; niece, Heather Beiswenger; and many aunts and uncles.

Blessed be the memory of David John Hegge.
