Delores Bitker Adkins – Obit

Delores Elaine Bitker Adkins, 75, of Moorhead passed away peacefully in her home Saturday, May 4, 2019.

Delores was born on February 1, 1944 to Carl and Florence Bitker. Delores was born and raised in Lockhart on the family’s dairy farm. She attended school in Lockhart, graduating in Crookston.  She also attended Moorhead State Community and Technical College where she received her associate’s degree in Business and Accounting. On October 14, 1961 she married the love of her life, Allen Adkins and made their home in Ada. Together they started Al’s Disposal Inc. serving Ada and the surrounding communities. In 1979 after Allen passed away, she was forced to take over the business and made it a success until her retirement.

Before retiring to Moorhead MN, she was a proud member of the community of Ada and also a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active serving in the church choir and as a lady’s aid. In Moorhead, she was active in “B.E.”- Beginning Experience group. She was also a volunteer for the Pembina Trail RC&D where she helped promote conservation and park development in Minnesota.

In her retirement, she enjoyed coffee and pie dates with her close friends on a regular basis. She also was active in the lives of her grandchildren, Seth Lakyn and Cade, who she was so very proud of and would brag to anyone about them.

Delores was preceded in death by her husband, Allen; and brothers, Ernest and Lawrence.

She will be greatly missed by her two loving children, Wade (Anne) Adkins of Argusville, ND; Denise Adkins of Moorhead, MN; two grandsons, Seth and Cade; one granddaughter, Lakyn; brothers Dwight (Jo Ann) Bitker, Beltrami, MN; and Clayton Bitker, Bemidji, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral: 11:00AM Thursday, May 9, 2019, at Zion Lutheran Church, Ada, MN.
Visitation: 5:00-7:00PM with a prayer service at 6:30 at Fredrikson-Ganje Funeral Home.
